About Steve

Hello, and welcome to my photography website.

I have been taking photographs ever since obtaining my cub scout's badge for photography at the age of ten! That's almost eight years ago now (ahem!). A much more serious interest in photography started in January 2003 when I enrolled on some night classes, primarily to improve my photography of my young children.

I use both digital and film media (35mm and medium format) in my work and use a range of cameras.

I love all different types of photography and like to try my hand at most things. However, the two areas I find myself spending more time on than any other are landscapes and people - both formal studio-based portraits and candid shots.

Ultimately, photography is a hobby for me. By day I am an actuary working in the beautiful city of York. So photography is very much a "spare time" activity.

PS I gave up the pipe at the age of six, but still give the hat a go on special occasions!
